Koh Larn (Thailand)

Koh Larn (or Koh Lan) is located 8 kilometers off south Pattaya. This small hilly island is 4 km in length and 2 km in width. As it is the biggest of the islands around Pattaya, it is one of the most popular destinations for those who prefer white sand beaches and crystal clear waters.

Most tourist hire private speed boats to get here and pay 2500 baht for a round trip, while others choose the ferry. The ferry leaves the Bali Hai pier in Pattaya every hour, costs 30 baht ($1) and gets to Koh Larn in 45 minutes.

Prices on the island are fairly reasonable compared to the mainland ones, even though slightly higher. If in Pattaya you are charged 60 baht for two sunbeds and an umbrella, on Koh Larn you will have to pay 100 baht.

Even if it's a small island, it boats five main beaches (Tien, Tawaen, Tonglang, Naul, Samae) which offer lots of entertainment: para sailing, banana boats, jet skis, snorkeling, speed boats. The best beach for snorkeling is a tiny one north of Tawaen.
